“Z” Reserve Wines

The highest aspiration of our vineyard. Our “Z” line up of wines represents all the character and refinement that comes from the union of vintage and vineyard. Only a select few out of many barrels are chosen for this reserve label.

2020 “Z” CHARDONNAY

Our ‘Z’ Reserve Chardonnay blends 2 of our favorite clones on the property. Clone 809 is a Muscat/Chardonnay hybrid which displays fresh, tropical, and floral aromas whilst the second clone, 548, gives us traditional Sta Rita Hills acidity and savory qualities. Fresh aromas of Bosc pear and citrus blossoms give way to a medium-bodied, textured Chardonnay with juicy acidity and a long finish. 18 months in 67% new French oak.

2021 “Z” RESERVE PINOT NOIR

Our Reserve Pinot Noir is a 3 Barrel blend. After vinifying every clone separately, we go through and rate each barrel. Our first selections are chosen and blending commences. We choose a combination that we feel exemplifies our Vineyard’s strongest themes. Our 21 “Z” shows scents of brooding dark cherry, orange rind, autumn leaves, and tobacco leaf. New French oak provides excellent structure to accompany the juicy acidity and grainy tannins leading to a lengthy finish. This Pinot Noir aged in 100% French oak, 50% new, for 18 months.

2019 “Z” RESERVE GRENACHE/SYRAH BLEND

Comprised of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, both from our hillside and flats, this wine exhibits the flavors we favor in both varietals. The opulent nose shows distinctive blue and red fruit with the dried saltiness of prosciutto. There is a fresh sensation, like the coolness after the rain. The ripe blueberry flavors also hold salivating Syrah tannin which allows balance to the Grenache acidity. The mild ocean brine in the finish yet again portrays our hallmark Zotovich salinity.

2019 “Z” SYRAH

A demonstration of power from our estate vineyard, the Z Reserve Syrah was built with fruit from our hillside. Inky, rich chocolate, salami, tapenade, and wild flowers meld for a commanding aroma followed by a flavorful mouth of dark blue and red fruit framed by fine, grainy tannins and a backbone of acidity. Your cellar begs for this reserve to be laid for at least another 5 years. 18 Months aging in 50% new French oak
